John Tory to run in Haliburton?

The Web site reports that Ontario Progressive Conservative Leader John Tory will announce on Friday that he will run in the riding of Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock. That riding is currently held by Laurie Scott, who is expected to resign her seat allowing Tory to contest it in a byelection.

By law, Premier Dalton McGuinty needs to call a byelection within six months of a vacancy. None too soon considering Mr. Tory has been without a seat in the provincial legislature for 15 months.

We’ll see what Mr. Tory has to say for himself tomorrow.smleaf

  1. I read that Ms. Scott's reward is a new well paid position on Mr. Tory's staff. The optics of this are horrible and the taxpayers on the hook for the cost of feeding this man's ego,

  2. Ms. Scott has done a lot of soul searching on this, & has put the good of the Party ahead of her personal agenda. She was the only member of caucus with the courage to do this, & I commend her for it.

  3. The Liberals will run a donkey to ensure Tory is their opposition. Our only hope is that somehow the nomination is contested.
