Now Ottawa MP David McGuinty opts out

Ottawa MP David McGuinty has withdrawn from a Leadership race that is looking to be a rematch between Toronto MPs Michael Ignatieff and Bob Rae. The only other candidate so far is New Brunswick MP Dominic LeBlanc, son of a former governor general.

Two other potential candidates who are reportedly still considering their options are Brampton, Ont., MP Ruby Dhalla and Montreal lawyer Martin Cauchon, a former federal justice minister.

All indicators point to Mr. Ignatieff being the front runner, including him recently securing support from two key Liberal party insiders: Mr. Mark Marissen—Stéphane Dion's 2006 national campaign chair and Mr. Andrew Kania—Mr. Dion’s 2006 Ontario chair and national outreach director.
