Grits sparring over eligibility rules

The Quebec wing of the federal Liberal party are recommending that anyone with outstanding debt from the 2006 leadership race be disqualified from the upcoming race to succeed Stéphane Dion.

The submission will reportedly be considered by the national executive this weekend to set the rules for the leadership convention.

Privately, supporters of Mr. Gerard Kennedy and Ms. Martha Hall Findlay—both of whom are still paying off 2006 leadership race debt—and other camps are furious with Michael Ignatieff, the perceived front-runner whose supporters dominate the Quebec wing’s board of directors.

A pox on their houses—I hope they eat each other alive.
