A blow for freedom of expression

It’s nice to see the end of Section 13 of the Canadian Human Rights Act (CHRA). Brian Storseth, a Conservative MP from northern Alberta, introduced a private member’s bill, C-304, to repeal Section 13. And, in a free vote of 153 to 136, the Tory caucus with some opposition support voted in favour of C-304.

With the Conservatives in a majority in the Senate, this bill is pretty well sure to be passed into law. Now I’d like to see the provincial legislatures take similar action.

  1. Seems to be the case with our government these days, slowly eating away at our freedoms and social liberties. No one really seems the wiser, Canadians are a pretty apathetic bunch currently.
